3M, the science-based technology company, has launched an innovative 3M Peltor Electronic Earplug which blocks only harmful levels of noise. The product enables ambient sounds of under 82dB to be heard by its wearer, while providing protection against louder sounds that could cause hearing damage This improves the ability to communicate with nearby colleagues, and hear warning signals, approaching vehicles and crucial sounds emitted by machines and processes. Designed for use in metalworking, welding, construction and maintenance, the 3M Peltor Electronic Earplug features a replaceable communications eartip and can be used for 16 hours on a single charge.
