New hydrocarbon and water dewpoint analyser for natural gas quality measurement

The portable Michell CDP301 Condumax dewpoint tester ensures the quality of natural gas during processing and transport. It has global hazardous area certification from ATEX, IECEx and cQPSus and can be used in Zone 1 or 2 as well as in Class I, Division 1 hazardous areas.

Based on chilled mirror technology, the optical-visual measuring device provides repeatable and highly accurate measurements of hydrocarbon and water dewpoint in natural gas. This allows the requirements of gas quality specifications governing transmission, storage, distribution and utilisation, such as CEN – EN16726, to be checked in the field. The operator always retains control of the measurement, so that ISO6327 and ASTM D1142 are reliably met.

Whereas previous manual visual dewpoint analysers required observations through a microscope, the CDP301 has a high-resolution colour display that shows an enlarged view of the mirror surface. The combination of this display with specific lighting technology makes it possible to measure either the water or the hydrocarbon dewpoint and record the results. Visible laser light in the red spectrum makes fine water droplets and ice crystals clearly observable when the water dewpoint is targeted.
